Tresco TrackPilot is a smart steering assistant for inland navigation. It keeps your vessel on course using SmartTracks: pre-calculated, field-tested sailing lines based on the sailing data of more than 6,000 vessels.<\/p>\n

Those lines are not fixed rails. You adjust them to your own sailing profile, to the conditions such as water level or traffic, and to the way you sail.<\/p>\n

Underway, TrackPilot corrects continuously and subtly, before your vessel drifts off the line. That saves rudder movements, and so fuel. It keeps your course tight, even after hours at the helm, when fatigue normally creeps into the corrections. The result is a calmer vessel and a calmer mind.<\/p>\n

How Tresco TrackPilot works<\/h2><\/div>

You plan your track, TrackPilot follows it<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

You set the route. That can be via a SmartTrack, a previously sailed track, a route from Navigis, or by following a vessel ahead of you via AIS. Your line, your choice.<\/p>\n

Activate it when you sail within range<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Steer towards your planned line, and once you’re within about five metres of it, you engage TrackPilot. From that moment the system keeps your vessel tight on that course.<\/p>\n

TrackPilot makes around four corrections per second – small, almost imperceptible adjustments. Fuel is one of the biggest cost items in inland navigation. Every rudder movement slows the vessel and burns diesel. Because TrackPilot holds your chosen line tighter than is possible by hand, consumption drops: at least 2% on straight stretches, over 4% on longer trips, and in bends \u2014 where the difference is greatest \u2014 up to 25%.<\/p>\n

Fewer rudder movements also means less wear on rudder and steering gear. And less fatigue means more alert skippers. On average, between 70 and 85% of sailing time is sailed on TrackPilot.<\/p>\n
