Radar overlay systems have not always had a great reputation. Obsolete technology, complicated installation, and high purchasing costs meant there were more than enough reasons to avoid such systems in the past.

However, thanks to today’s generation of radars combined with our RadarLink technology, this has changed entirely. Its installation is now much easier because the radar can be connected to the chart system with a standard network cable.
Tresco RadarLink and the chart system can be operated together with a single mouse ortrackball, so there is no need to keep switching to your own control console.

‘Dual Head’ for increased navigational safety

Thanks to Tresco’s standard built-in “Dual Head” technology, cluttered radar overlay images are now a thing of the past. All navigation data appear in detail on the chart system, and the RadarLink screen shows the basic navigation chart, further enhanced with the AIS data.

There is no need to buy extra screens because RadarLink uses the existing radar screen, and Tresco Navigis uses its own screen.

It is also possible to set the two screens to different ranges with Tresco RadarLink.  This increases the visibility of the received AIS targets, thereby contributing to navigational safety.

Inland ECDIS certification

Tresco’s RadarLink is the first radar overlay system approved according to the latest Inland ECDIS standard version 2.3.  Tresco is Europe’s first company to obtain type approval for this new system.  Its type number issued by FVT in Koblenz is R-1-103.  RadarLink is also the first approved radar overlay system that uses your existing radar’s network technology.

In practice: Port of Rotterdam Authority

Tresco, in collaboration with Alphatron Marine, has fitted the most sophisticated Tresco navigation system to date on board RPA13 (Port of Rotterdam Authority).
