Frequently Asked Questions

I don´t see any AIS targets. What now?

Check that the following settings are correct:

  • At the bottom of the bar, press the AIS button and check if any targets appear in the list.
  • At the bottom of the bar (bottom left, there’s a button next to the AIS button), it should be enabled.
  • Press Settings/System/Channels. Check the channel with the baud rate set to 38400.
    Then press the button at the bottom right “Show NMEA” and see if data is coming in.

Error: "Link not open for output"

  • Select Settings/System and then press the “Auto-detect” button at the bottom and then press “Yes“.
  • A window will open and the automatic scan will begin. Wait 1 minute and then press “Accept Settings“. The Tresco System will start automatically.

How do I do an online update?

  • Press the “HELP” button in the top right corner.
  • Then press “Check for updates“.
  • Then press the “Apply updates” button in the bottom left corner.
  • Finally, press “Install updates“. The update will now be downloaded.

My speed is in knots... What now?

  • Go to “Settings” and then press “Options“.
  • You’ll then see “Units” on the left.
  • If you press that, you can choose between “kilometers” or “Nautical Miles“.

I want to turn off the depth figures. How do I do that?

  • At the top, just above the small icons, are these buttons: Std – Usr – All
  • Press Usr
  • Then go to “Chart” in the top left corner and then press “Details“
  • In the “Other chart information” box, uncheck Soundings.

I can´t see the VHF channels, or I see them too late. How do I set this up?

  • Settings/Ship/Safety Zones
  • On the right, under “Look ahead“
  • Default settings: 5000 for Distance and 2500 for Width.

The bridge height is 9m, but my ship is 11m. What should I do?

  • Don’t worry, this is the minimum guaranteed clearance
  • (If the situation changes, you will be notified by local authorities)

The chart shows shallow water, but I can still sail there (depth colors incorrect or setting the ship´s draft)?

  • Settings/Depth Levels/Safety Contour
  • Here you set the depth of your ship. The colors will then be adjusted automatically.

Blauwegolf information not visible... How do I make this visible?

Press the icon at the top with blue waves and a clock.

My ship isn´t sailing towards the top of the screen. How do I configure this?

  • At the top, next to the airplane icon, is an icon with a diagonal arrow and a ship.
  • Tap that icon with the diagonal arrow and you’ll see your ship moving forward again.

How do I change the name of the ship?

  • Settings/Ship/Identification
  • You can edit your ship information under Identification

I´m sailing crosswise... How can I fix this?

  • Settings/System/NMEA
  • Then you’ll see “Use COG for heading from” on the right
  • This should be at least 30 knots
