The sector is changing, and our solutions evolve with it
Inland shipping has changed considerably in recent years. The skipper of the past has become an entrepreneur, and the office has grown along with the role. Before departure, a voyage plan has to be filed, the cargo reported, a checklist completed. En route, customers expect a reliable ETA. Relief crews need to find the vessel. And afterwards, the client or the regulator wants to see reports and figures.
Navigation alone is no longer enough. That is why Tresco grew along with it, into the complete Tresco ecosystem that takes the hassle out of inland shipping: from charts and navigation to hands-free course assistance on board and fleet management at the office. All within one system, one that scales to your needs and grows with your business.
Below you can see how the parts work together, from the line on the water to the overview at the office.

On board, it all starts with Navigis
Tresco Navigis River is the foundation. It is the navigation software that thousands of skippers rely on every day: up-to-date charts, smart route planning and real-time sailing information. You know where you are, where you are heading and what is happening along the way.
Navigis is also where the on-board administration comes together. Your voyage plan, your electronic reporting via BICS (eMelden) and your voyage reporting are all handled in the same familiar environment you sail in. That keeps the work manageable, even now that more is required.
SmartTracks and TrackPilot: the line that keeps improving itself
If you want to stay on course without correcting all day, you can rely on Tresco TrackPilot. TrackPilot keeps your vessel hands-free on course, with fewer rudder movements, proven lower fuel consumption and more calm in the wheelhouse. Today, more than 1,000 vessels sail with a Tresco TrackPilot.
The course TrackPilot follows comes from SmartTracks: our route database, built from the experience of more than 6,000 vessels. SmartTracks suggests the safest line, not the sharpest, and you choose the profile yourself. At low water, for instance, a more cautious line.
On top of that, every skipper can also plot a course themselves, follow another vessel, or sail a previously sailed route. On those routes too, TrackPilot keeps the vessel on course, and they feed into the SmartTracks, which keep getting smarter.
This is where the engine of the ecosystem sits. Every vessel that sails adds a sailed route to SmartTracks. The more vessels sail with Tresco, the more reliable the tracks, and the better TrackPilot holds course. SmartTracks feeds TrackPilot, and every voyage feeds back into SmartTracks. What’s more, the planned routes of vessels on TrackPilot are visible to every other vessel sailing with Tresco, thanks to intention sharing.
From ship to office: every vessel sends its data through
All the essential information about what happens on board lets an office plan and manage more efficiently. Every vessel sends its sailing data through in real time, with a back-up on board so nothing is lost if the connection drops for a moment.
That way the office sees the same voyage the skipper is sailing. No calling to check, no guessing, simply seeing. That is the bridge between ship and shore, and at the same time the difference from separate systems that do not talk to each other.
At the office: Tresco Fleet
At the office, everything comes together in Tresco Fleet, the platform for fleet management and compliance.
Today, Fleet keeps more than 1,150 vessels in view, across over 150 shipowners and charterers. From a single vessel to an entire fleet.
Real-time overview. Where is each vessel, and what is it doing? Live tracking at the office and in the app, so you follow the fleet at a glance.
A dashboard that thinks along. Live monitoring with voyage plan, eMelden and voyage reporting as an online back-up, the status of TrackPilot, a timeline with ETA and the software version per vessel. Everything on one screen.
Automatic reports. CO₂ reporting, port, distance, zone, period and version reports, and a TrackPilot report. Periodically and automatically in your inbox (or your clients’), without anyone retyping figures.
And because it is the same data that already exists on board, everything is consistent. Compliance, from pre-departure checklists and cargo reporting to eMelden, BICS and Green Award CO₂ reporting, is handled without extra work for the skipper.
Fleet Cruise: for river cruising
If you sail river cruises, Tresco Fleet Cruise goes a step further. It automatically logs the kilometres per country per voyage, based on the route actually sailed. That is the basis for the per-country levy, which is often passed on per passenger. Fleet Cruise links your itinerary to the sailed route, with geofencing and automatic reports per tour operator. The captain sails, the report writes itself.
Why one ecosystem pays off
One environment, from wheelhouse to office. Ship and shore work with the same data. You enter nothing twice, and everything is consistent.
No extra hardware. There is no need for a large cabinet on board. That saves you a heavy investment, and installation takes hours, not days.
A subscription instead of a purchase. You pay per year and can cancel annually. Convenient, especially for chartered vessels.
Usually already on board. On many vessels, Tresco is already running. If the navigation is in place, activating Fleet is often just a matter of switching it on, with no extra installation.
What’s coming
The ecosystem keeps growing. Soon you will prepare a voyage at the office and the skipper will sail it out on board. And expertise from the office comes closer to the vessel. The distance between shore and ship only gets shorter.
